I must say… I’m disappointed. BIG BANG. I was right to question their first single from the album, “Number 1.” Then, we’re given this ALBUM THING. It was just too… I can’t even describe it or find out where to start. Well, I think we should just start with their overall appearance. TOP. What are you wearing? This face mask THING. It’s got spikes coming out of his FACE. He can do way better. He’s just too good looking to mess up like that. At least he’s got another reasonable picture. DAESUNG looks like they didn’t have a proper hat for him and put a beach towel on him. I think he’s covering up so he doesn’t get a tan or something. TAEYANG. I think everyone should just look at his shirt. There’s a man thing on it. A NAKED man thing. Good job. I just think G-DRAGON likes to go hunting and wear whatever he kills. He’s also got a strange choice for eye apparel. And SEUNGRI… well, he actually looks pretty okay.
But the reason I was really disappointed was that this is a Japanese album, yes? Well, I think there is a huge lack in JAPANESE. At least on “With U” there were a couple songs actually in Japanese. They even bothered to leave some songs in Korean. Nice. I feel that this album was just too rushed. I was honestly hoping that “Haru Haru” was going to be in Japanese. I would’ve loved to hear a Japanese version. These songs are just being recycled over and over. It was difficult listening to this album since it had songs in English and Korean but barely any Japanese. I just find it hard to try to appeal to any music market in a completely different language. I know that in America, there are some artists who do release songs in different languages but some of the songs are at least understandable. As for Big Bang, I don’t see this as a good move for them. It just seems like this album was released for the sake of just making money. Most bands are made for that nowadays but for Big Bang and this album, they made it too apparent. I had high hopes for Big Bang since I loved so many songs by them but I can’t even seem to find any song in this album I really can attach to (except for the ones that I’ve already heard). For new Big Bang fans in Japan, I can understand that it sounds good and the English seems to be impressive to some extent. But for more fans, I think a full Japanese album would do a good job. The only song that seemed to be in Japanese was “Candle” which is actually “Together Forever.” It’s a good song but they have more appealing songs than that.
Now for the new songs “Number 1,” “Come Be My Baby,” “Remember,” and “Everything.” I’m sure many Big Bang fans already heard “Number 1″ since it was the first single from the album. It seemed okay. Their English seemed to be well in this song. The video was funny and we all know Seungri is too young for clubbin’. But all that aside, none of these songs sounded attractive at all. I listened to each song several times and I just can’t seem to like them. They seem bland and just all around boring.
Big Bang has potential to do even better. I don’t believe their songs seem to be doing it for them recently… especially with a wardrobe like that. I’m waiting for a new release in the future and hopefully, it’ll be way better than this… thing.
