Boa’s “Eat You Up” single has been out for a month or so but hasn’t received any air time on the US radios. I’ve heard maybe 2 accounts of this happening but that’s just not enough. So I did what any devoted fangirl would do and tried to promote her.

One of the biggest pop radio stations in the NYC area is z100. Their website allows you to chat with other listeners and the DJ as well as listen to the current music playing. So I thought maybe If I bring up her name casually in this chat, some of these people may have already heard about BoA. Wait, maybe I can even request the song to be played! Well, not really.

At first the people in the chat were rude by not even acknowledging my existence. I used to think “hello” and “whats up” was a good way to get someone to notice you but I guess I was wrong. After someone had realized that I was indeed living. I casually brought up BoA and asked if her song has been played that day yet. The response I received was silence. After 3-5 mins of awkwardness someone finally came out and asked who BoA was. I gave it a second hoping someone else would respond with something positive like “oh yeah I’ve heard of her” but instead I get “some random Asian girl”. Out of this whole chat room and weeks of releasing this single and rumored air time on this exact station only 1 person can acknowledge BoA as some random Asian girl?

OK. Maybe it’s not they’re fault. So maybe there just hasn’t been enough promotion going around but never fear the informing fangirl is here. So after going through Korean Wave 101 with this group and mention BoA several times, the DJ in the room still replies “wtf is a boa?  Bank of America?”. Now I know I don’t want to be a teacher because obviously no one will listen to my juicy lectures on k-pop and all its goodness. However the devoted fangirl still continues, for several minutes I must add.

But wait! *Gasp* !  That background music during this CM playing right now sounds oddly familiar. Could it be? Oh but it is! After about an hour of me going on about this pop diva a 10 sec CM is played on the radio. It consisted of an announcer saying that BoA is an international star now coming to the US with her new single “Eat You Up” and is available at the iTunes store.

I guess the chat room and DJ got tired of me babbbling about BoA so he decided to push the button for the CM. However these fools don’t know what fangirls can do. A simple CM isn’t going to shut me up. Not until you play the song! Even though it didn’t happen I still stayed in the chat and gave it my all. Who knows maybe the song will be playing on radios more frequently sooner then we think.

LOL! You’re so cute.

I thought she was popular enough that everyone knew her.

Maybe if they just played it on the radio often enough she would be famous.

Yeah I think so too!

LOL @DJ.

Well she is some Asian girl in the US.

HAHAHAHA thats why this weekend we get at least 10 girls to infiltrate the z100 chat room and ask them to play BOA! and then Se7en!

Oh and bi’s sad tango in english! thats another good song!

AJA AJA !FIGHTING!

i love boa!
shes one of my fav apop artists!
i think shes gonna make success here in america

Uh, well, to be honest, I only knew of BoA because she sang that ending song for Inuyasha.  And from what I gathered most people I talk to know of her are anime fans, and somehow I highly doubt a lot of them will be listening to pop radio and requesting BoA to be on there. XD

But kudos to you for being persistence!  I am not a BoA fan, but as one fan to another, KUDOS! <3

Way to go Jessica! Maybe it’ll take more fans like yourself to give plenty of Asian pop stars their due over here in the states.

I’ve been blasting this song since it was just a 1 minute preview and NOW all of a sudden my sister is soooo in to the song, thinks its hot, and is choreographing a dance to is [she’s with a dance local crew]. I really think a lot of people would like the song if it got some airtime. More than we think . . . I’m off to badger the radio stations!! I wish I had enough influence to just go to the station and talk about her for at least 2 minutes on air that way hopefully some anime fans will be like “oh yea! Every Heart” from Inuyasha and fuel the BoA-ness LOL here’s to hoping!

You could call every major radio station in America and talk about her!

They won’t always play it though.

All BoA has to do is hit the mixtape scene and get her music in the hands of people who care.. Like me. I produced her new track with Jay Z..

Take a listen here:

Whatever she does, she should not be following the American trend in music.. In Japan, Korea, etc.. Artists are developed and then singles are pushed.. In America, there is no artist development.. Only product development.. The artists have to develop their own fanbase…

Hooking up with Flo Rida was a bad choice, horrible production, crappy remix… I’m sorry, it just is..

It was a bad remix.
