I admit I was a bit iffy when it came to C-pop but I do remember seeing and hearing about JJ a lot when looking for other J-pop or K-pop music. His face and name was everywhere on sites but I never paid much attention. It wasn’t until I started taking Chinese classes that I had an interest in C-pop. This is because we all know how well the fangirl method works when learning a new language. It was actually Lara who said give this JJ guy a try and ever since I listened to “Sha Shou” I fell in love!

Alas I was just at the airport to send Lara off on a study abroad trip to China. Oh my how they grow! All off to Asia. On the ride to the airport I was sure to tell her about some things she might expect to find. Although I haven’t been to China in particular I think it was safe to warn her about the “Engrish” barrier and toilets (at least lack of western style ones in rural areas). Ah yes I remember my trips abroad and I think I will take the rest of this post to reminisce a little.

It’s time for Seung Ri to shine and get really dirty in the process. His solo single “Strong Baby” is an upbeat catchy song that reminds me of Justin Timberlake. Well, he likes NSYNC so I’m not surprised.

First thing I noticed is G-Dragon. His little cameo was always cute; however, Seung Ri standing next to G-Dragon makes him more masculine than usual. I guess its supposed to show viewers how mature Seung Ri is becoming, but it just made me cringe.

We start with this “CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK” dance thing. You tell me what the hell that means. We’ve also got him in his car with the crazy chick in the front driving. He’s so mature he can’t even drive a car. He does get with the “Last Farewell” lady in the end so I guess it’s a plus for his maturity but then he takes off his shirt and shows his abs. I’m not saying his abs were bad but I’m used to Seung Ri being the little unimportant brother of Big Bang. All I can say is good luck with your solo career Seung Ri. I still like Tae Yang’s solo “Look Only at Me” MV better.

Another video treat for you all. This year was filled with a lot of events that made us SSS (squeak, scream, and squeal) but, we had to narrow it down to our favorite 5. There were a lot of honorable mentions such as Rain’s American movie debut through Speed Racer and BoA’s US single. However we just could not fit it all on this video because would would have been talking for hours. No seriously, we talked for almost 30 minutes about 10 amazing 2008 events and it was just so heart breaking to edit that all out. Anyway, hope you all enjoy!

Oh please. This was the most pointless change to DBSK’s “Mirotic.”

After being told that their song was too inappropriate, DBSK was forced to censor their song. Their solution, change “Under My Skin” to “Under My Sky.” Good job. That makes TONS of sense now.  “I got you under my sky?” As if Engrish wasn’t bad enough. It was also stated that their lyrics, particularly “Red Ocean,” needed to be censored since it was believed that a woman’s menstrual cycle was implied. Well, they didn’t change that. I don’t see why “Under My Skin” needed to be fixed… “Under My Sky” just lost me even more. I’m sure there’s another word other than “sky” that fits. Also, there was a slight change in Yunho’s rap. Instead of him saying “I caught you” it changes to “I choose you” or something to that extent. I tried to figure it out since I don’t really know Korean. Obviously, these people had their mind in the gutter when they claimed the song was too mature for 19 year olds. I may not be 19 yet but I’m still listening to the original any way. As a fangirl, my mind is usually in the gutter anyways. Seductive, yes. Inappropriate, no.

SHINee, the young five-member boyband under SM Entertainment, has had quite a few hits so far, the biggest being “누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay).” Aside from the catchy song, the dance itself has become so popular that fans all over have learned for themselves. But there’s something more interesting about these dances.

Many of these dances can be performed with other songs and sync up pretty well. This phenomenon has been dubbed “SHINee Magic Dance” to some people. I even compared both of the dances to several of my songs on my computer to find that this was indeed true. I have officially determined that SHINee’s dances are the equivalent to the Electric Slide. We all know that the Electric Slide can be performed with any song. Heck, I even tried the Electric Slide with “Number 1″ by Big Bang. It worked.

Boa’s “Eat You Up” single has been out for a month or so but hasn’t received any air time on the US radios. I’ve heard maybe 2 accounts of this happening but that’s just not enough. So I did what any devoted fangirl would do and tried to promote her.

One of the biggest pop radio stations in the NYC area is z100. Their website allows you to chat with other listeners and the DJ as well as listen to the current music playing. So I thought maybe If I bring up her name casually in this chat, some of these people may have already heard about BoA. Wait, maybe I can even request the song to be played! Well, not really.

DBSK does it again with this sexalicious new MV for their song “Wrong Number.” This is the thrill of fangirling right here. The picture they used may have been wrong but certainly not the video. The picture makes it look like all the boys are secretly strippers and Max just owns them. In this new MV, we get to see a sexy side to all of the boys, especially band leader U-Know (Yunho). There were scenes where my jaw just dropped from the sexy overload. I thought he was just too sexy for the screen when he gives that glance to Xiah while on the phone. NO. It got hotter than that. That scene where Yunho was in the bath tub. GOODNESS. And when he STEP OUT of the bath tub. I swear, these boys poison my teenage mind every time. Then there’s also a few new backing vocals added with Xiah singing. He’s got an amazing voice. But I’m pretty sure there’s just going to be lots of fangirling over Hero (with his rapping part and all). Just my fangirling instincts kicking in I suppose. I think everyone will just have to see the MV for themselves.

Hey everyone! Happy Pocky day! I must say, this has got to be one of the best days ever considering all we have to do is EAT POCKY AND CELEBRATE IT’S AWESOMENESS. But that aside, one of my favorite parts of Pocky day is the commercials! My brother and I used to just look up Pocky commercials in our spare time because they were so funny and ridiculous. Big Bang’s second album titled “Remember” is here! To jump start on things, Big Bang has released their video for the song “Red Sunset” a cover of a song by Lee Moon Sae. As a start, I guess I’ll have to review that first since I saw it first before the album.

Well, I must say, it’s a cute video. I thought Daesung was cute running around like a doofus. Of course, TOP is hot as always. It’s an interesting cover of the song. It’s definitely in the pop category. It’s very obvious that Big Bang’s style likes to constantly change. It was odd listening to “Number 1″ earlier today and then to jump to this. I was also distracted by their sign that read “Let’s go west!” Apparently, it’s an attempt at awareness for the major oil spill that happened in S. Korea a while ago. Well, I like the enthusiasm but it’s kinda late for that. It’s a very upbeat song and I must admit it’s catchy. But of course, Big Bang finally got better when they covered someone else’s song.
